This is amazing information. You may ask why?

First of all, this means that Vice President Cheney has known all along that he was Scooter Libby's source -- and whether Libby had license from him or not to try and slaughter the reputation of Joe Wilson -- CHENEY KNEW.

The entire charade of President Bush stating that he wanted to get to the bottom of who leaked Plame's name -- and who was involved -- is no longer believable at any level. Cheney would not have failed to disclose this to Bush, and Bush played along as if none of his staff were involved. They confessed nothing -- accepted no responsibilty -- until forced by Fitzgerald.

According to Scooter Libby's notes, George Tenet was the source for the information about Valerie Wilson lining up the trip -- so to speak -- for her husband, but did not necessarily include the information that she was a covert operative.

This is where things get interesting. Although Fitzgerald may not need to establish this connection, it seems increasingly plausible to TWN that Tenet and Cheney had some kind of exchange regarding Joe and Valerie Wilson. Cheney then passed off the information to Libby along with a few expletives about Wilson, implying that the @#$%@%er should be done in.

Oh man, if this keeps up I'm gonna have to send a few thank you notes to the White House this Christmas. Like being a teenager on the eve of getting laid for the first time.

I've been reading a lot of disheartening posts around the liberal blogs regarding this perception that Bill Clinton has been soft-pitching in his criticism of Bush lately.

Well reading this article I would have to vigorously disagree. Clinton not only hammers Bush on a number of issues, but he also shines a unique light on the Bush war machine (unique to me, anyway). This part really unseams the Bush song-and-dance

"What Americans need to understand is that ... every single day of the year, our government goes into the market and borrows money from other countries to finance Iraq, Afghanistan, Katrina, and our tax cuts," he said.

"We have never done this before. Never in the history of our republic have we ever financed a conflict, military conflict, by borrowing money from somewhere else."

Clinton added: "We depend on Japan, China, the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, and Korea primarily to basically loan us money every day of the year to cover my tax cut and these conflicts and Katrina. I don't think it makes any sense."

Not to minimize the ongoing human disaster in New Orleans, I was just watching the morning news and it seems even the most banal segments of the Mainstream Media are in serious attack mode.

I just watched Katie Couric, of all people, grill Michael Brown, the head of FEMA, on Washington's mind scrambling failure to bring this thing under control. The storm hit Monday. It is now Friday. FRIDAY! and the scene is worse this morning than it was last night. When asked when he expects the Guard to restore some kind of order, and ease the suffering on the ground (in the water), Brown had the balls to say, with something like professional pride, this weekend.

THIS WEEKEND?? THIS WEEKEND?? One week after the event? Nine months ago we managed to airdrop food and water into fucking Thailand 2 days after the tsunami. Christ almighty!

To her credit, Couric gave Brown a lashing, and actually began probing him about the issue regarding the Fed's lack of funding for precisely this type of catastrophe.

If Couric is this viscous, let's how Timmy and the other Sunday jokers perform this weekend.

Harry Connick Jr. is being interviewed right now. Apparently he has been on the ground in New Orleans at the convention center and he has been on a tear... He is baffled about the scene there. He said he can't understand why the government can't drive a few trucks of food in there. He said he could drive a car load of water in there right now. He went on a 3 or 4 minute rant that was right on the money. Where is the help? How could it possible take so long within our own boarder!!! In a major American city.

I lived in New Orleans for 4 years. My wife and family are from New Orleans. We go down there every Christmas to visit my wife's mother. I watch these scenes, I recognize some of the places where I spent a lot of time, and they are awash in such surreal human suffering and desperation...

And guess what... all the people are black. Every one of them. The only white faces you see are doctors, police, and soldiers. And every one of them looks just as freaked out as the displaced.

This is America?

The federal government has been criminally slow in getting the lead out on this. And if someone doesn't step up and just admit that they were caught with their pants down and that they are sorry, and they pledge the full power of American industry and science into easing the pain, supporting the refugees for as long as it takes, and rebuilding the city (not to mention all the smaller, yet no less humanly significant, towns along the Mississippi coast), no matter how much it costs... if someone doesn't just say, "ok, we fucked up", my head is going to explode!

As New Orleans sinks tonight and the fate and livelihood of a million people hangs in the tangle of uprooted trees, our president is recuperating from a very taxing day spent at a lush California resort trying to explain to a baffled public the non-existent connection between Pearl Harbor, D-Day, 911 and his disastrously retarded escapade in Iraq. At least he will be well rested when he returns to DC to do absolutely fucking nothing about the devastation on the Gulf Coast (excuse me... he will be "coordinating relief efforts"... sounds like Texas speak for kicking back and jerking off while he WATCHES relief efforts on his groovy satellite uplink)

As I watched the coverage of widescale looting tonight, and read reports on how they could not fix the levees because there just aren't enough helicopters, I kept wondering... Where is the Louisiana National Guard?... oh, right, they're too busy cleaning up our mess in Iraq.

I doubt it.

But as I studied the Online Magazine universe this weekend, searching for any new Rove/Plame info, I began to see some interesting takes. Early Sunday I read Josh Marshall's TPM post where these lines jumped out

Cooper and Miller are very different kinds of journalists, swim in very different waters. Are they really in this jam for the same reasons?

Not quite sure what to make of it, but having read about Miller's questionable sourcing on WMD, it struck an unexpected note.

Later I saw this at Kos (check out the part at bottom where Miller's relationship with David Kelly, The British WMD scientist/whistleblower who "killed himself" after being exposed, is discussed). This shit really blows my mind. More stories will surface along these lines, no doubt. Things are getting exciting and scary... the hint of Watergate in the air.

Still, I don't buy the idea Rove was passing planted info blindly. Not that I don't think he's too smart for that, but I do think he is much too crafty not to notice when someone is trying to fuck him (sorry for the disgusting imagery).

I still believe this will ultimately lead directly to Scooter and Dick. Rove may have been a willing soldier, but he was only a bit player. Same goes for Miller. And once again POTUS simple does and believes what he is told.

Balzd Misses the Mark

Dear Mr. Balzd,

Whereas Supreme Court nominations are important due to the scope of their influence on the course of American history, I believe you are dead wrong to assert that this "Court Decision May Be Bush's Defining Moment"...

No, sir, I believe the president's defining moment was taking the nation to war against a non-aggressor state (evil, maybe, but not an aggressor or a threat to the USA), based on false intelligence. His people cooked the books, and young soldiers died.

He should be impeached and then thrown in jail!

I'm sure you all have heard the news, Justice Sandra Day O'Connor is first to jump ship.

What looked to be a blistering hot summer just got even hotter. The pundits are split, Bush could either send up a "moderate" (since he is facing declining poll numbers) or he could offer a fascist nut-job (for the same reason).

Regardless, we all need to prepare for battle. And the first shot should be ours.

With that said, the following are action items Kos has posted and is requesting other bloggers (Online Magazine editors) do the same. So, here you go... now let's hit the mat!

Reading the president's speech tonight was like one of those dreams where your running and running and running, but never get to where you want to go (where was that, anyway?).

Yes, I read the text, couldn't bring myself to watch... can't stand to hear the thing's voice, so the wife and I settled in for Six Feet Under during tonight's speech - a speech that Scott "Are We Done with the Briefing Yet" McClellan characterized as a speech where the President would "talk about the strategy we have for succeeding in Iraq, the strategy we have for victory, and where we are in terms of implementing that strategy." Right Scott, blah blah blah.

The village idiot, this guy who sits in the Oval Office once in a while (when he's not clearing brush off his ranch... must be a Brush Ranch for all the hours he spends there picking up sticks), actually got up and gave the same speech he's been giving since 2003! This is after a month of public opinion polls showing that the US citizenry is eager for him to get real and level with them!

Tonight W showed not only his stubbornness and myopia (resoluteness and focus according to the GOP) but he also showed us all just how much contempt he has for the American people.

Shit, his captive audience didn't even want to applaud at the designated lines.
